LED Roadway Lighting Ltd.

LED Roadway Lighting Limited (LRLL) has launched a $2.9 million dollar research and development program to develop an LED (Light Emitting Diode) based roadway lighting system.

The LRLL team is researching, designing and developing an LED-based roadway light that will be an energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly alternative to the currently available metal halide and high- and low-pressure sodium fixtures. The LED roadway light will provide light levels in accordance with IES requirements and a long life expectancy.

Benefits of using LED-based lighting systems include significantly reduced energy usage which results in lower greenhouse gas emissions. Maintenance and repair costs are reduced due to less frequent re-lamping. LRLL’s project has been well received by utilities, municipalities and other owners of roadway/street lighting fixtures.  The project will include pilot programs and a high participation rate is expected, as users are clearly embracing this new technology.
