Who we are |
LED Roadway Lighting Limited (LRL) is the leading designer and manufacturer of LED (light-emitting diode) based street lighting fixtures and control systems. LRL is located in Nova Scotia, Canada, with research and design facilities in Halifax and a 55,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Amherst. LRL offers a complete range of LED based street lighting fixtures that meet or exceed IES (Illuminating Engineering Society), CIE (Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage) and IDA (International Dark Sky Association) requirements. LRL's products are RoHS compliant (free of lead and mercury), provide energy savings of 35-67% compared to 100W HPS fixtures, and with substantially reduced maintenance costs. Charles A Cartmill, CET Charles A Cartmill is a lifelong entrepreneur who started his first business, C.S.A. Enterprises Ltd 35 years ago as a Technical Sales and Marketing company in Lighting and Industrial products. In 2002, Charles started C-Vision Ltd, an electronics manufacturing company which is housed in a 55,000 sq. ft. world class state-of-the-art electronics facility. Finally, in 2007, Charles formed LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. This company was formed to focus on Light Emitting Diode based street light technology and fits seemlessly with the other companies within the Cartmill Group. In 2006, Charles was awarded Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in the Atlantic Region, and was one of four finalists for Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year.
Dr. Jack Josefowicz, PhD Dr. Jack Josefowicz has a PhD in Physics from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Jack began his career with Xerox, developing advanced thin film-based photo imaging and laser scanning systems. As a Senior Scientist and Program Manager at Hughes Research Laboratories in Malibu, CA, Jack innovated new semi-conductor process technology that led to the successful development of the world's first self-aligned field effect transistors on gallium arsenide with pure tungsten gates. He was also involved in the fabrication of large-scale, very high-speed (>20 GHz) integrated circuits. Prior to joining LED Roadway Lighting team, Jack was most recently with Tyco Electronics, where he served as Director of Technology and R&D. Jack specialized in Printed Circuit Board chemical and equipment process optimization, and "best practices" for improved process consistency and quality. Jack led Tyco Electronics in the conversion to RoHS, including lead-free Printed Circuit Board design and high temperature assembly optimization. He also led R&D in the following areas: failure and root cause analysis; reliability testing methodology and reliability program strategy development (Weibull analysis), interconnect stress testing (IST), ion migration testing, scanning and transmission microscopy, surface analysis, metallurgy, crystallography and solder joint reliability analysis. Jack served as a Tyco Electronics expert witness in product liability investigations and liability defense. Jack holds 13 patents, has published more than 50 scientific journal articles and other publications including invited chapters in technology textbooks. Jack has been invited to give lectures at Cisco, Celestica, Flextronics, Solectron, Jabil, Northrop Grumman, Motorola, Nokia, Raytheon, Boeing, and many other major companies. |
