 LRL’s Satellite™ fixtures are unparalleled in the industry. With an expected design life of 20 years, SatelliteTM fixtures offer municipalities and utilities substantial savings in maintenance costs. A typical high-pressure sodium fixture will require service and re-lamping at least 4 times before the Satellite™. This translates into substantial life cycle cost savings.
Users can expect energy savings of up to 80% with the SatelliteTM (vs. high-pressure sodium), while still maintaining IES RP-8 lighting levels. Innovative dimming features have also been incorporated into the product to allow for additional savings and flexibility for end users. The SatelliteTM has the highest efficacy on the market at 80 lumens/watt, based on independent, third-party testing. The designers of the SatelliteTM have overcome two of the major design challenges related to LED street lighting – thermal management and maximizing illumination of the road surface. LRL’s targeted optics system provides maximum target lumens (i.e. light that is directed to the road surface, without wasted light) and an extremely efficient distribution. Our model Sat-96 fixture for example, can meet the requirements of IES RP-8 at pole spacings of up to 200 feet (60 meters). Our thermal management system uses the luminaire housing itself as the means to dissipate heat. Excessive heat is the major factor in reducing the life of LED fixtures. Our design allows the LEDs to operate at 68% below the maximum junction temperature for the LED (at 20C ambient), driven at 280mA.
