Purdy Crawford
Director

Mr. Crawford is the former non-executive Chairman of Imasco Ltd., C.T. Financial Services Inc., Canada Trusco Mortgage Company and Chairman of AT&T Canada. He is presently Counsel at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt. He joined Imasco in 1985 as President and COO; in 1986, he became CEO; and, in 1987, Chairman, President and CEO. He retired as CEO in 1995, but continued as non-executive Chairman until 2000. In 2007, he was promoted to Companion of the Order of Canada. In 2000 he was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame and was named Ivey Business Leader of the Year.

Dave Lazzarato

Director

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Mr. Lazzarato earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University in 1979 and obtained his C.A. designation in 1981. Mr. Lazzarato is the former CEO and a Director of Craig Wireless Systems (CWS). Prior to joining CWS Mr. Lazzarato was EVP & CFO, Alliance Atlantis 2005-2007; EVP & CFO, Allstream ( formerly AT&T Canada ) 1999-2004; SVP & CFO, Bell Mobility 1997-1999; Controller, BCE Inc. 1994-1997; SVP & CFO, CAE Electronics 1990-1994; Controller, CAE Inc. 1988-1990. Prior to that, he was with a predecessor to the accounting firm of KPMG in Canada and the US. Mr. Lazzarato received the ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2008, an FCA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario in 2006, and completed the Program for Senior Executives at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992. Mr Lazzarato is a member of the Board and Executive Committee and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committees of McMaster University in Hamilton, and the Trillium Health Center Foundation in Mississauga, Ontario, where he, his wife and three boys live.

Charles A. Cartmill, CET

President, LED Roadway Lighting Ltd.

Mr. Cartmill is a lifelong entrepreneur who started his first business, C.S.A. Enterprises Ltd. 36 years ago as a Technical Sales and Marketing company in Lighting and Industrial products. In 2002, Mr. Cartmill started C-Vision Ltd, an electronics manufacturing company which is housed in a 55,000 ft2 world class state-of-the-art electronics facility. In 2007, Mr. Cartmill formed LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. This company was formed to focus on Light Emitting Diode based street light technology and fits seamlessly with the other companies within the Cartmill Group. In 2006, Mr.Catrmill was awarded Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in the Atlantic Region, and is in their Top 50 CEO Hall of Fame.

Bert Frizzell

President & CEO, The Shaw Group

In 2005 Mr. Frizell graduated from Harvard Business School’s OPM Executive Development Program; in 1975 received his CGA designation and in 2008 his FCGA. He graduated from Acadia University in 1972. Currently, Mr. Frizzell is a Director of Heritage Gas; Member, Board of Governors, Acadia University; and Governor of Junior Achievement of Mainland Nova Scotia. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 Mr. Frizzell was recognized as one of one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs by Atlantic Business Magazine.

Peter MacNeil

As Manager of NSBI Venture Capital since inception in 2001, Mr. MacNeil brings more than 28 years of expertise in financing business and, more specifically, 11 years of venture capital experience. He is also a member of Canada’s Venture Capital & Private Equity Association and serves as a board member and observer on a number of investee companies. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Mr. MacNeil holds a Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and is a graduate of Venture Capital Institute in the U.S. He also holds certificates in various industry training courses. In his spare time, Mr. MacNeil can be found on the green enjoying a round of golf and or at the rink coaching competitive curling.

David Pirie

Mr. Pirie has worked on major infrastructure projects in many countries and has provided consulting services to all levels of Government. He is the developer of the Confederation Bridge Project. Mr. Pirie is also President of Verchere Investment Corp., a private investment company, a position which he commenced in October, 1993. Pirie graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in Economics and a LL.B. from the University of Toronto. Mr. Pirie practiced law in a practice focused on commercial, security, real estate development and construction law.

Engineer, businessman, co-founder and former CEO of Jacques Whitford; Hector Jacques is one of the most recognized and accomplished professionals in the field of engineering. In 1972, he and colleague Michael Whitford made the decision to start their own organization and built what would become one of the largest engineering firms in Canada, Jacques Whitford. Over the 37 years following its inception, Mr. Jacques led the company through remarkable growth and in 2009 when the firm was acquired by Stantec, Jacques Whitford had over 1,700 highly trained professionals in 45 offices across Canada, the United States and internationally.  At the time of the acquisition in 2009, Mr. Jacques served as Chairman of Jacques Whitford’s board of directors. Mr. Jacques has received numerous awards in recognition of his dedication and contribution to the engineering discipline and the community at large.

Andrée-Lise, founder of Cycle Capital Management, boasts more than fifteen (15) years of experience in corporate financing, management and engineering. She has developed a network of top-notch partnerships, thereby demonstrating the growth potential of a private placement platform specialized in clean technologies (cleantech).

In addition to serving on portfolio companies’ boards of directors, she is Ecotech Québec’s co-founder and Chairwoman and sits on Réseau Capital and Natural Gas Technologies Centre (NGTC)’s Boards of Directors. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada and of the Quebec Task Force on renewable energy development. She co-chaired a Task Force under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). She has chaired, or been a member of, many panels of judges, in particular the Grand Prix du génie-conseil québécois, the Canadian Consulting Engineers Awards (ACEC) and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In September 2011, Andrée-Lise was recognized as one of Canada’s Clean16.

Prior to founding Cycle Capital Management, Ms. Méthot created the first Quebec-based venture capital fund specializing in the Cleantech sector, namely the Fonds d’investissement en développement durable (FIDD) which gave birth to Cycle Capital. She also launched a fund specializing in sustainable development, the “Fonds d’action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD)”. She previously worked at Groupe Axor, CINBIOSE, and at the Commission de la Santé et de la Sécurité du Travail (CSST), Québec’s Workplace Health and Safety Board.

She has a Master’s degree in Science from the Université de Montréal. Her Bachelor’s degree is in Geological Engineering from Université Laval. She also studied atmospheric physics at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
