LED Roadway Lighting Limited of Halifax Nova Scotia new Satellite Series LED street light promises environmental and cost saving benefits.

(Halifax, Nova Scotia, September 13, 2010) – Through a 1.6 million dollar purchase of 2,137 LED street light fixtures from LED Roadway Lighting Limited of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Halifax Regional Municipality is about to become the first major Canadian municipality to convert to LED street light fixtures.

Mayor Peter Kelly welcomed the move, noting the significant economic saving to taxpayers as well as the important contribution to the environment 

“With energy costs continuing to rise, this will allow us to cut our lighting infrastructure spending by as much as two-thirds over the next 20 years.” Mayor Kelly said. “As well, these fixtures will play a vital role in our continuing efforts to make HRM one of the greenest cities in North America.” The Mayor noted that Regional Council has committed to reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions by 20% from 2002 levels by 2012.

LED Roadway Lighting Limited Announces CEATI Project

LED Roadway Lighting Limited (LRL) has announced a major collaboration project with CEATI International (Center for Energy Advancement through Technological Innovation). CEATI’s members include 44 utilities worldwide. LRL’s contract with CEATI includes research and the subsequent development of a Guideline Specification for LED Street and Roadway Fixtures that will be adopted by many utilities globally.

LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. to Deploy 1,100 LED-based Street Light Fixtures in Nova Scotia Pilot Project

LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. announced a large-scale pilot project in the Province of Nova Scotia. This is one of the largest LED street light demonstration projects undertaken to date in Canada and will convert 1,100 high pressure sodium street lights in at least 10 municipalities to LRL’s more efficient LED based Satellite™ series of fixtures. In addition to these municipal installations, the pilot project will also include the installation of Satellite™ fixtures at Halifax’s Stanfield International Airport and along some Nova Scotia highways. Pilot project partners include ecoNova Scotia and Conserve Nova Scotia.
