About LED Roadway Lighting

LED Roadway Lighting Limited (LRL) is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of LED (light-emitting diode) based street lighting fixtures and control systems. 

LRL is located in Nova Scotia, Canada, with research and design facilities in the city of Halifax and a 55,000 ft square ISO certified manufacturing facility in the town of Amherst, Nova Scotia.  LRL offers a complete range of LED-based street lighting fixtures that meet or exceed IES (Illuminating Engineering Society), CIE (Commission Internationale d’Eclairage) and IDA (International Dark Sky Association) requirements. 

In late 2006, the founder of LRL, Charles A Cartmill, embarked on a $2.9 million Research & Development program to develop a high efficiency, commercially viable street light.  LRL benefited from more than 30 years of experience in the technical sales and marketing of lighting products through sister company C.S.A. Enterprises Limited, as well as the electronics manufacturing expertise of sister company C-Vision Limited. 

C-Vision Limited has extensive experience in high volume manufacturing of RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant products and was one of the first companies in North America to obtain IPC certification for lead-free manufacturing. LRL products are manufactured in C-Vision’s state-of-the-art facility, which ensures tight process control.  The end result of these efforts is the Satellite™ series of products.
